This is a lot of (6) Vitec PCB Mount Current Sense Transformer 20mH 20A 100 Ohms. DCR = 1.5 Ohms.
These work easily enough-Ohms Law is all that's needed to get a quantity for output voltage or current. You only need to understand that, although it has only one winding, this current sense transformer is still just that: a transformer. Where is the secondary, you ask? The secondary is provided by you. The transformer has a hole in the middle of it. A wire coming from your circuit from which you want to measure becomes the one-turns winding for the transformer's secondary winding. That's right - as with any transformer, current goes through one winding and inductance sends an opposing current through the second winding. In our instance, the main "winding" (a simple current-carrying wire) is from your circuit and threads into the hole of the Vitec. The induced current is being generated in the Vitec from your wire. It's this induced current that we can use to assess both current and voltage at the point in your circuit where your wire emanated from.
Determine current from Ohms Law. Just take a voltage DMM reading at the leads of the Vitec and divide by resistance of the Vitec (100Ohms). The result is the current flow through your circuit. Likewise, voltage can be found in a likewise manner.
