Description
Offered is an antique, late 19th
century, half hull ship builder’s model. An unusual feature is that this model is made “hollow” in design, hence making for a liter package. Note that the backboard becomes the model’s keel. The design is comprised of (13) cross ribs of which (9) laminate wood frame side pieces are nailed to. The backboard (and keel) is then screwed to the (13) cross ribs. It carries an original, natural, richly aged, patina with some water spotting on the bow end. A 5/8” long piece of the keel is missing on the backboard as it forms the top of the bow. (See last 2 pictures). Over-all it’s in nice condition with the typical flaws one would expect on a fragile piece of this age. Dimensions: 41.75” long X 6.75” high X 6.37” deep with a weight of 5 pounds.
