The M Performance Drive Analyzer is a product that essentially represents a new type of recording and analysis tool for trips with vehicle information. For example, braking distance measurements or distance races can be recorded and evaluated.
This product consists of two parts:
Hardware: OBD stick (on board diagnostic) that is inserted into the vehicle.
Software: App for the smartphone.
The system, which is derived from motorsport, provides the driver with all important driving dynamics data and offers extensive and professional recording and analysis options that can be evaluated and displayed on the smartphone.
With the help of the separately available Click & Drive holder, the smartphone can be easily attached to the windshield. When the engine and the app start, the data is recorded. The driver can view the results directly on the smartphone after each trip. This enables the driver to experience the full potential of his vehicle. The product is suitable for all vehicles from 2008 (including motorsport), but not for plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles.

On the one hand, the Drive Analyzer is suitable for the sporty, dynamic driver who also uses the product on racetracks. On the other hand, this product is an ideal companion in everyday life when the desired driving dynamics data need to be determined simply and professionally.
The Drive Analyzer determines a variety of relevant key figures, such as various engine data, speed and peak values, current gear, accelerator and brake use or lateral acceleration (see Technical Information).
Immediately after the recording, the results can be played back and analyzed in the form of videos or graphical representations on the smartphone.
Both the hardware and the app are branded with the sporty BMW M Performance design and ideally match the instrument panel and the interior of the vehicles from the M Performance range.
With the help of the BMW Click & Drive holder, also available as an accessory, the smartphone can be attached quickly and conveniently.
Both the OBD stick and the BMW Click & Drive holder can be installed by the customer himself using the plug & play mechanism.
The M Performance Drive Analyzer app is free of charge for BMW customers.
Functionality
Without the OBD stick, the customer can only view the app and get a taste of the functions. The complete functionality can only be carried out with the purchased and installed stick (socket for insertion is located in the driver's footwell).
The app runs on Android and iOS smartphones as well as on tablets, which are particularly well suited for the evaluations due to their larger screen.
The M Performance Drive Analyzer app can be downloaded from the iOS and the Android Store.
With the demo track, all analysis functions can be tested before purchase.
The smartphone connects to the vehicle via the OBD stick and converts it into an interactive driving experience system. The connection between smartphone and OBD stick is done using Bluetooth Low Energy technology and only needs to be done once per vehicle.
The software is activated once using the activation code supplied with the hardware (Internet connection required).
After successful installation and pairing, the recording can begin.
All measured activities are saved directly on the smartphone and can be called up again at any time.
The BMW head-up screen can optionally be retrofitted. Via the connection to the head-up screen, all TestDrive data is transmitted and displayed synchronously via WLAN.
The video export function (iOS only) automatically generates an mp4 video file including overlay data. The generated video file is in the picture gallery and can be sent from there, for example via YouTube, WhatsApp and iTunes.
The CoreDrive display has been expanded to include the following driving dynamics data: coolant temperature, engine oil temperature (depending on the model), engine speed, engine load, speed, intake manifold / boost pressure.
The TrackDrive graph shows the course of fuel consumption over time in addition to liters / 100 km, now also as liters / hour, gallon / 100 miles and gallon / hour.
Technical information:
The M Performance Drive Analyzer can record and play video data, audio data and GPS data. Note:
Firmware adaptation OBD stick: The red LED is switched off to reduce the power consumption in stand-by mode. The OBD stick can be updated with the new firmware at any time.
