This guidebook to the town of Chateau Thierry in France is subtitled "A friendly guide for American Pilgrims to the Shrines between the Marne and the Vesle." Chateau Thierry and the surrounding countryside located between the Marne and Vesle Rivers were marked by heavy fighting during the Second Battle of the Marne in 1918.
This publication was meant to guide American visitors after the war on a tour through the historic sites of battle and strategy in the area.

Both Woollcott and Baldridge were original members of the group that started the U.S. Military Stars and Stripes newspaper and would become prominent in their respective fields, literature and art. Item measures about 5 1/4" x 9".
