Cyber attack shuts down N.J. city’s government

Hoboken was the target of a cyber attack Wednesday, leading to the shut down or interruption of city services, officials said.
The city posted a statement on its X account saying it had been hit with a ransomware attack in the early hours of the day. City Hall was closed and all online services were shut down. They city even had to suspend street sweeping, but trash collection and recreation programs continued.
The city’s Municipal Court canceled proceedings, and as a precaution, the state Judiciary temporarily redirected all municipal court and police-related business to the Secaucus Police Department and the Secaucus municipal court, a Judiciary spokesperson said.
